Queensland Detention Centres Exposed

Detention centres throughout Australia are making headlines again. Earlier this week, the ABC have reported the cruel abuse of children in Queensland detention centres. And as of this morning, Amnesty International Australia is reporting they have obtained more than 1000 pages of documents in direct relationship to Indigenous young people. They make up 89 per cent of these facilities’ population- an eerie statistic considering what has been already sighted in Nauru and in Darwin. Justin McCaul of Oxfam’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Program joined us on the show to discuss what’s happened and what we need to do next.
