A rare tiny orchid survives near the Paterson St Lookout just down from the iconic Byron Bay Lighthouse.

The fact that it and other wildlife continue to survive is contingent on a protest against development that Byron residents staged twenty years ago.  Central to the protest was a broadcast from Bay FM that morning.
