Redfern’s Redlink, a hub providing support to one of Sydney’s most vulnerable communities

Sydney’s Redfern community has been identified as vulnerable to mental health issues, substance abuse, issues of parenting and psychological trauma by both government and non-government bodies. In 2015, NSW’s Family and Community services addressed the Redfern community’s need for support by implementing an initiative on a public housing estate in the area.

‘Redlink’ is an interagency hub that connects Sydney residents with security, health and legal services as well as conducting activities aimed at addressing social isolation, crime prevention and personal well-being. We spoke with Erin Miller, program manager of Healthy Homes and Neighbourhoods, an initiative that identifies vulnerable families and coordinates care facilities for residents of Sydney who are particularly in need of support.
