Reiwa: The new era of Japan
The end of April 2019 marks the end of the Heisei ‘Achieving Peace’ era and the beginning of the Reiwa ‘Beautiful Harmony’ era in Japan. With 30 years of service, Emperor Akihito abdicated the Imperial Throne to his son Prince Naruhito; which is something that hasn’t happened for around 200 years. We were joined on 2ser by Dr Michael Danaher, a senior Bachelor of Arts lecturer from CQ University to explain what this change means for Japan hereon.
