Renewable Energy Update: New World Record for Tandem Solar Cell Efficiency

Last week a new world record in tandem solar cell efficiency was achieved by Chinese company Longi. The company has achieved a 33.9% efficiency, putting a Chinese company in first place in solar efficiency production since 2015. With an ever increasing amount of solar cells and panel production, the speed at which private companies can now improve efficiency is growing, igniting friendly competition between solar developers around the world. 

Dr. Wright spoke with 2SER’s Jack Gembitsky about the significance of this achievement and what this means for solar cells going forward.
