Rental Affordability Index reveals rental struggles in Sydney
Following SGS Economics & Planning’s publication of the 2017 Rental Affordability Index last week, Nic chatted with Adrian Pisarski, Executive Officer from National Shelter, about the escalating rental affordability crisis in Australia. With residential zones in our major cities ranging from very affordable to extremely or severely unaffordable, Pisarski narrows in on what’s to come for the Australian rental market and who is worst off. Amazingly, rental rates are becoming so inaccessible in cities like Sydney that many apartments and houses are being left empty. Pisarski explains why the market has become so volatile and what may need to change to make life easier for renters.
