Rental crisis forcing Australian adults back into share housing
The number of adults in their 30’s moving back into share housing is rising rapidly as rental markets across the country continue to tighten.
According to realestate.com, their website flatmates saw their busiest month on record in January of this year, with more than 200,000 people opting for a share house situation.
The Wire’s Jo Newbury spoke with Victoria renter, 36-year-old digital software consultant Alex Baulderstone, recently transitioned back into share housing after being priced out of his two bedroom apartment.
