An early group of Afghans evacuated from Kabul have left hotel quarantine after fourteen days of isolation. Support groups are working with the newly arrived Afghans to provide clothing donations and mental health services as they embark on the next chapter of their lives in Australia.

Australia has granted three thousand humanitarian visas to Afghan nationals over this year with the majority going to at-risk locally engaged Afghan employees and their families.  

Many newly arrived Afghans will start in temporary housing until they secure permanent accommodation here. Support workers say there are key challenges for evacuees as they reintegrate into communities.
