Researchers Create Heat Stress Warnings for Smart Watches
Heat kills Australians every year. In fact Heatwaves have killed more Australians than all other natural hazards combined.
Researchers are working to reduce the number of deaths by testing out a new device that could measure how someone is reacting to the heat in real time and send an individual heat stress warning, effectively predicting heat stress before it happens. The device is described as an “integrated wearable weather station” to a fitbit.
To find out about the project aptly named ‘Project Coolbit’ we were joined by the lead researcher Dr Negin Nazarian from the University of NSW.
