RONA on Resistance, and the City’s Pulse vs. Country’s Expanse

Coming to you from Mparntwe Country in the Central Desert, RONA is the eponymous electronic project of the Kaytetye DJ and sonic storyteller based down in Naarm. With a Boiler Room set under her belt, as well as appearances at Strawberry Fields and Splendour in the Grass, RONA’s new tune “Burn It” is a slamming top-shelf deep house tune. It was released on the anniversary of the 2023 Voice referendum as a response to its rejection and a call to purify the earth by fire in the form of burning the metastatic cancer of colonialism to the ground.
RONA had a yarn with Jono on Tuesday Drive to chat more on Indigenous resistance, the disarming power of EDM as an instrument of political activism, melding the pulse of a city’s energy with the expanse of the Country. She also teased what to expect on her upcoming set on next year’s Laneway billing alongside the likes of Charli XCX.
