Rural Connection: The Goats Fighting Bushfires

The Black Summer bushfires may feel like an eternity ago to many Australians, but for others they are a stark reminder that preparing for bushfire season is a critical task. The Rural Fire Service (RFS) employ a mix of Indigenous and Western fire management techniques to reduce the likelihood of severe blazes, but one new tactic has turned heads.

A flock of goats, dubbed ‘the goat brigade’, is tasked with chowing down on as much vegetation as possible to reduce fuel levels.
