SA rally to protect protest

This afternoon civil liberty and environmental action groups will assemble at SA’s parliament house for the Protect Protest Rally and March, launching a campaign to repeal the state government’s anti-protest laws.

Protestors in Adelaide now risk fines of $50 000, legislated one year ago after SA Mines and Energy minister told a major fossil fuel conference that this state is “at their disposal”. Protests outside the conference included abseiling from a traffic bridge. The next day the SA Labor government introduced 60-fold increases to the fines that could be imposed for peaceful protest.

So, what is the impact of these reforms?
