Sami in Paradise

In it’s world premiere, Belvoir Theatre presents Sami in Paradise, an adaptation of Nikolai Erdmans’ Russian classic The Suicide by Eamon Flack.

Taking place in a nameless refugee camp, protagonist Sami approaches his loss of hope through learning to play the tuba – an act that will soon see him attend his own funeral.

Sophie caught up with actor Yalin Ozucelik who plays the titular character and spoke about the power of comedy and finding humanity in the story.
