Save Bidura: The Brutalist building we’re not talking about
Serving the juvenile justice system for over the 35 years, the Bidura Children’s Court was forced to permanently close its doors in July this year. The buidling was sold to developers in 2014, who have their sights set on a new set of apartment blocks for the site. In an ever increasing “demolish and develop” landscape, a group of local community members have banded together to save this unique civic building, built in the late-modern brutalist style.
We spoke with writer and journalist Jenna Reed Burns from the “Save Bidura from Overdevelopment” group.
