Science Spotlight: BEES!

It’s time for Science Spotlight. Each week we talk to an expert about the big breakthroughs and the unique discoveries made in the pursuit of scientific knowledge.

This week we’re looking at bees! Ever seen a bee buzz by, looking for a flower to pollinate. But how does it know what it’s looking for? Is it learned, or are bees born with an in-built “flower template”? Dr. Scarlett Howard and her colleagues have looked deep into this question, and have found that bees do indeed have instinctively know what a flower looks like.

Cameron spoke with Dr. Howard about these results, how they went about testing it, and why these findings matter.
