Science Spotlight: Rogue Blackhole

It’s time for Science Spotlight. Each week we talk about the big breakthroughs and the unique discoveries made in the pursuit of scientific knowledge.

Last week astronomers made the remarkable discovery of a lonely black hole wandering around the galaxy with the Hubble Telescope. Don’t worry its not anywhere near us. What makes this discovery interesting is that, statistically, we should have seen a solitary black hole by now, but all the black holes we have observed have been accompanied by a partner star.

Confused? Intrigued? Not sure how to feel? Don’t worry, here’s science producer Cameron with all the hot astronomy goss.
