Sco Mo… Watch Out! Public trust in the government at an all time low

Sco-Mo… watch out! According to the Australian National University’s Election Survey, Australia’s public trust in the government has reached an all time low. Statistics show that just under 25% of Australians surveyed believed people in government could be trusted. Australia’s satisfaction with democracy is also at the lowest it has ever been since the constitutional crisis that occurred during the Whitlam government in the 70s. Such figures have been described as “a wake up call” to politicians. To discuss this issue further we had Dr Sarah Cameron, Research Fellow at the School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Sydney, who specialises in comparative political behaviour and public opinion, elections, and Australian politics.
