The Scouts battle the weather at the Jamboree
Be prepared! It’s the motto of the scout movement and they would have hoped to be prepared as the wild wet weather belted us over the last couple of days. You would have been excused for just staying indoors and keeping dry, but for more than 11,000 scouts camped down in Appin, the experience was anything but dry!
The 10-day event which has been running in Australia since 1934 and is designed to create a space where young people can build leadership skills through responsible risk-taking, but how are the scouts trying to keep relevant in a modern world?
We spoke to one of the scout leaders from the jamboree, Ben Cherry-Smith.
