SFF 2017: Interview – Terrell Ferguson from Roller Dreams

Most people’s understanding of roller-skating comes from B-grade 80’s films.
But these films completely disregard the reality of roller-skating sub-culture and how it developed in predominantly non-white communities.
Roller Dreams, which premiered at the Sydney Film Festival, tells that story.
It’s a documentary film directed by Australian Kate Hickey about the birth of roller-dance in Venice Beach, Los Angeles.
Terrell Ferguson was one of these original roller-dancers on Venice Beach. He’s speaking here with speaks with 2ser’s Brooke Taylor.
