Shark Ecotourism

Sharks play an integral role in our natural ecosystem, however perceptions of them can more often than not, lean towards the negative. Shark ecotourism is about getting people up close with these animals to help change attitudes and allow for a deeper understanding about their nature, which can then help to preserve them. Sarah Sutcliffe, a Marine Social Sciences PhD candidate at James Cook University who was involved in a research project that looked at people’s perceptions after participating in their shark ecotourism program, joined us on the line.
