Should NAPLAN results be on your resume?

NAPLAN tests have been used in schools since 2008, and have been useful in determining the standards of education in Australia. However recently, NAPLAN tests have been causing some problems such as whether the tests are too easy or too hard, whether they measure the effectivity of the Australian education system, whether they are actually improving the students learning, and whether they should be used to judge a student’s academic standing. The latest issue for NAPLAN now is the link between NAPLAN results and future employment. Victorian Education Minister James Merlino proposed the idea of linking NAPLAN results of Year 9 students to a certificate for employment in the future. However, many Australians are rejecting this idea, calling it “misguided and dangerous”. We had Dr Steven Lewis from Deakin University to tell us more about it.
