Singing a Science Tune: A PhD student and Her Ukulele

How does one go about explaining in-depth research quickly? We’ve all heard about the elevator pitch, but the 3-minute thesis competition takes it to another level. As the name suggests this competition asks PhD students to distill their 80,000-word thesis into a 3-minute summary. This year the University of Technology Sydney science PhD student AnnaClaire Mcdonald won the UTS Science competition and will compete with the other UTS faculties next week.

AnnaClaire has a history of combining her song writing, musical and comedic talents with her science expertise. So, we decided it’s time to meet this ukulele playing scientist.
