Sleeping with your phone

Do you sleep with your phone or other electronic devices in your room?

One in five Australian’s is being woken up by social media alerts and text messages through the night, according to new research from Adelaide’s Institute of Sleep Health at Flinders University. It’s not just young people reaching for their phones, people over the age of 55 also reported being woken up by their phones whilst in bed.

Breakfast host Tess Connery chatted with sleep specialist Dr Antonio Ambrogetti about how these disturbances can affect our health. Dr Ambrogetti warned of outcomes known as social jet lag and suggested reducing screen time before bed.
