It’s been a gloomy weekend but what better to lift your spirits than Eats, Beats at a Street Festival. Sydney’s emerging artistic community with live street art installations, weird and wonderful buskers, boutique markets, pop up bars, acoustic sessions in the Fringe Bar and beats on the street by Soul of Sydney.
Sunday
Walk the line between truth and fiction as four wordsmiths, hidden in our galleries, emerge to tell you their side of a story at Poetry Performance: A Storytelling Journey. Be guided through the themes of Sun Xun’s incredible exhibition and be taken on an unconventional storytelling journey. Head to the MCA for free this weekend.
Monday
Every Monday night the Upstairs Beresford turns into your own intimate cinema for their Monday Movie Nights. There’ll also be free popcorn, $10 pizzas and cheap wine. No tickets required just grab your mates and head down.
Tuesday
SLAFF is back and New Female Voices (Nuevas Voces Femininas) is a collection of short films from Cuba, Mexico, Venezuela and Colombia range from the quirky to the whimsical and showcase a new wave of Latin American female directors. Tickets are $10 and it’s showing at the Addison Road Picture House in Marrickville.
Thursday
Two Girls One Show is a cabaret and comedy with this double-bill performance starring Harriet Jane and Jenna Ray as they open your eyes to the humour that is hiding in secret underworlds and lying in your very own bed. It’s going down at Newsagency Gallery and tickets are $15-20.
Friday
Who needs drugs when you have LSD Factory. LSD Factory is part of the Sydney Underground Film Festival and it’s a series of short films premiering for the first time in Australia. Grab your tickets here for $11-15.
