Soil Degradation
It’s not often that we think about the soil we step on, or how it produces food for 7 billion people daily.
Our soil produces over 95% of our food and it also helps control the climate by decreasing the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Our soil is currently over worked and not cared for enough to keep producing the precious food we need. We take but we are not giving the nutrients its needs and factors like Climate Change and salinity are not helping at all.
According to the Scientific American, our world’s soil is said to have 60 years left before it can no longer produce food. President of Soil Science Australia NSW Division Dr. Peter Bacon explained more in detail.
