The state of Sydney’s Food Bowl

With the current rate of Urbanisation of Sydney Basin, it is estimated that the food production in the Sydney area will go down by over 60 % and Sydney local food Supplies will only be able to meet 6% of demand compared to 20 % today. The bleak future lead to the formation of SYDNEY FOOD FUTURES , a project initiated by UTS’s Institute for Sustainable Futures to save the farmlands lying in the Sydney Area. Laura Wynne,a senior research Consultant at UTS as well a member of the SYDNEY FOOD FUTURES project joined The Daily to highlight this problem.
