STEAM Punk Girls Taking Over Instagram

In September 2018, the Department of Education were under heavy criticism for creating a new physics HSC syllabus that made no mention of contributions of female physicists in the field. The syllabus mentioned 25 scientists, all male.

The STEAMpunk girls UTS program is hoping to fill that gap in knowledge by putting the spotlight on the female pioneers in STEAM and encourage young girls  to engage in science, technology, engineering, art and math. The STEAMpunk Girls also have an exciting program lined up for International Day of Women and Girls in Science (February 11) to have high school girls research their local STEM women.

Taylor Szyszka the STEAMpunk Girls Program Coordinator visited the 2SER studio to tell us all about it.
