Stop Peeping and Gloss at Cement Fondu
Cement Fondu in Paddington is currently showing two exhibitions, Stop Peeping and Gloss.
Group show Stop Peeping brings together five Asian and Australian artists, collectively exploring cultural limitations and personal freedom through the lens of sex, love and desire. Sydney based multidisciplinary artist Jason Phu, is showing a video installation which functions in some ways like a family portrait.
In Gloss artist Rainbow Chan offers a unique perspective on counterfeits and creativity in post-socialist China. Rainbow plays character ‘Chamel’, who she created after purchasing a perfume of the same name.
Nicole spoke to Jason and Rainbow about their exhibited works, delving into there parallels and differences.
