Street Libraries encouraging community reading
In the age of online shopping, bookshops are closing down and the price of books are escalating at a rapid price–making reading a rather expensive hobby.
Over the past few years, however, you may have noticed some weird bookcases popping across Sydney–books in microwaves, fridges or any contraption that fits them. They’re called street libraries, an excuse to get rid of books you no longer need and pick up a new bedside read.
Nic Lowe is the founder of the movement here in Australia, and joined Nic to chat more about Street Library’s mission and their reach: “We have them in all four corners of Australia.”
