Stroke survivors use social media for sharing stories

Social media is well known for connecting friends and family, and now survivors can be added to the list.

Health organisations are increasingly embracing social media to not just educate the public, but create a safe place for survivors.

The National Stroke Foundation has been using Facebook and Twitter to connect stroke survivors and their families, enabling individuals to share their stories and ask questions about the condition.

Adrian O’Malley is an ambassador for the National Stroke Foundation. He suffered a stroke eight years ago at age 34, and regularly uses the National Stroke Foundation’s Facebook page to connect with other stroke survivors.
