Students Strike Against Climate Change Inaction
How far would you go to make a difference? On November 30 students all over Australia went on strike demanding political action on climate change, a halt to new coal mines and to make Australia fully reliant on renewable energy by 2030. Just over the weekend, a climate change protest was held in Sydney, with people massing around Martin Place.
These protests were largely inspired by the announcement last month that the Adani-Carmichael mine and rail project in central Queensland would go ahead.
Grace Vegesana, from the Australian Youth Climate Coalition, helped strikers organise protests in Sydney. She joined us on The Daily to discuss the importance of young people in the fight for a sustainable future.
