Without warning, a 7.0 earthquake off the coast of New Caledonia hit just two days ago, prompting a tsunami alert. And now, a new study has found that in 2018, we could potentially be facing more frequent and powerful earthquakes. So just how close are we to facing another major natural disaster?

Producer Nathaniel Keesing spoke with Professor Sandy Steacy, Head of Physical Sciences at the University of Adelaide, about the potential for 2018 to be a year of high risk for earthquakes.
