Surprises in Spotify Wrapped

December is here, and if you’ve been on social media recently, you’ll have seen that Spotify Wrapped has arrived. It presents people’s listening habits in a shareable graphic and takes you through your own year in review with some fun animations.

But just what do these wrap-ups have to say about the way that we as a society consume music? And why are some left surprised by their friends’, and sometimes even their own, listening habits?

Dr Tim Byron, a lecturer at the School of Psychology, University of Wollongong joined Cameron Furlong to explore Spotify Wrapped.
