Sydney Writers Festival – Program Launch

In March 2020, as we learned of the impacts the Covid-19 pandemic was having on our lives, Sydney Writers Festival was one of the first cultural institutions to fall victim to the pandemic.

Now under the charge of a new artistic director the festival has returned for 2021 with an incredible lineup of local artists.

Michael Williams was formerly the director of Melbourne’s Wheeler Centre. He joined the festival in September last year to curate a program that acknowledges how far we have come through the pandemic and the role that writing and storytelling has played in our journey.

Andrew Pople from 2ser’s Final Draft spoke with Michael about bringing back the Sydney Writers Festival for 2021.

They began their conversation with Michael musing on the many meanings of the festival theme; ‘Within Reach’.

You can catch Final Draft on Saturday mornings at 10am. If you want to hear more of that conversation with Michael Williams go to 2ser.com/final-draft or check out the Final Draft – Great Conversations podcast wherever you listen to your podcasts.
