Sydney Writers Festival: retelling stories of Afghanistan through food

Durkhanai Ayubi is an Afghani writer and restaurateur, who through food is telling her stories of Afghanistan and exploring the notion of displacement and limitations of normative ideas power and justice.
Durkhanai’s best selling cookbook Parwana: Recipes and stories from an Afghan kitchen interweaves family histories with family recipes. This cookbook also seeks to tell stories of Afghanistan that don’t focus on foreign policy, war and conflict.
Durkhanai will be appearing at several events at this years Sydney Writers Festival
