Sydney’s Homeless Crisis in “Life After the Oasis”

Ten years ago the documentary “The Oasis” about the Salvation Army’s efforts to deal with youth homelessness in inner-city Sydney attempted to launch a debate about the crisis afflicting many younger Australians struggling to find accommodation or social support to enable them to function properly in the community.

This has led to a follow-up documentary that follows Paul Moulds and his wife Robyn as they attempt to discover the fate of the many street children they tirelessly supported a decade ago.

Stephen Hill talked to Sascha Ettinger Epstein, the director of “Life After the Oasis” about her documentary that probes just how well we as a nation are providing for the most vulnerable in our community.
