Tea & Biccies (Nice Biscuit on The Band Next Door)

Hailing out of Meanjin/Brisbane, the cosmic crew of Nice Biscuit ride the psychedelic waves of the Queensland tropics through the zeitgeist of the contemporary climate.

Rooted in the haze of 60s jam bands, the outfit bring together elements of krautrock, whimiscal folk, percussive jollies and a penchant for hypnotic driving rhythms to create their second full-length album titled SOS. Recorded over multiple songwriting weekends, the group split into two camps then came back to throw their ideas together and see what would stick. The spaced out sounds of their previous album (2018’s Digital Mountain) still linger around the fringes of their new nine-track LP, but now with an added sense of sage of urgency and trepitdation.

Recently, co-vocalist and fashionista Billie Star took some time out to have a chat on The Band Next Door on 2SER to spill the tea on double edged sword of current weather events, the mood of groove and avoiding psychedelic cliches.

SOS by Nice Biscuit is out now.
