The Art Of Hanging The Archibald

Even if you’re not a regular art gallery goer, chances are you’re one of the thousands of people who head along to the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman prizes at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Well, it’s coming up to that time again, as entries start arriving at the gallery this week.

When you go this year, in a socially distanced manner of course, think about Anne Ryan. Who’s Anne? Anne Ryan is responsible for making your gallery viewing of the Archies flow. You see there’s an art to hanging art. Paintings aren’t just thrown on the walls, first come first serve.  As Curator of Australian Art at the Art Gallery of NSW, Anne makes sure each painting is in exactly the right spot.
