The cost of rehabilitation

Families of people living with substance abuse are seeking help from private rehabilitation centres and paying up to tens of thousands of dollars to secure a bed. More than 32,000 Australians are looking for rehabilitation centres with only two-thousand beds available in the public sector. Families are out of options, as many private clinics avoid medical administration by not offering medical treatment, instead offering a room with counselling. We were joined by Reporter Ben Knight whose story “The high price parents pay to get their kids off ice” will be on the ABC’s Four Corners 8.30 Monday night.
