The creator of chicken salt: Peter Brinkworth

The iconic Australian condiment dusted over the contents of a fisherman’s basket or a pile of chips has a humble origin story.

Peter Brinkworth owned a chicken shop in regional South Australia when he decided to invent an original seasoning that would put his chicken a cut above the rest – and thus, chicken salt was born.

Speaking with Sean Hatinikolou on 2SER’s Wednesday Drive show, Mr Brinkworth chats about his (although he’d never admit it) heroic contribution to Australian cuisine.

Salt of the Earth is a short documentary produced by Film Focus Productions and will premiere at the Adelaide Film Festival on October 20.
