The Decline of the Y Chromosome

For the human race to continue surviving, at the most basic level, we need both male and female sexes for reproduction. But what happens if  one sex dies out? With our Y chromosome on the decline, the survival of humanity is at stake. Is there hope for a future without the Y chromosome? Have other species done it before?

Jenny Graves, Distinguished Professor of Genetics and Vice Chancellor’s Fellow at La Trobe University, joined us this morning to answer all our burning questions.
