Trigger warning for sexual assault in this next story.

One of Harvey Weinstein’s earliest and most vocal accusers, Asia Argento has reportedly settled a complaint for $380 000 from former co-star Jimmy Bennett, who was 17 at the time of the alleged incident.  Argento was 37 at the time. Bennett’s lawyers have said the incident left him “extremely confused, mortified and disgusted”. But as you can imagine, responses have been mixed. Often, sexual assault against male victims is not taken as seriously as cases with female victims. But why does this disparity exists, and what is being done to ensure male victims of sexual assault are supported?  Here to discuss this with us was psychologist and criminologist Dr. Michelle Noon.
