The EU’s New Plan for Climate Change
Last year, the EU pledged to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 55 per cent by 2030 compared to 1990 levels, and then last week, it introduced about a dozen legislative proposals in order to actually make this happen. The EU’s ‘Fit for 55’ package will affect nearly every sector of the economy, and has been framed as its most ambitious climate change initiative yet. We spoke to Climate Councillor and independent economist Nicki Hutley to break down what the EU is doing and what this means for Australia.
