The extraordinary properties of seaweed

What do you know about seaweed? Have you ever considered it might be more than just a weed that wraps around your toes at the beach?

Recently, a number of scientific bodies in Australia have been conducting some fascinating research into the importance of seaweed; not only in the context of our marine ecosystems, but also as a brilliant natural resource on land.

We spoke to Professor Catriona Macleod, who is the Executive Director at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies at the University of Tasmania. She shared some insights about the rich potential of seaweed including how it can benefit the ocean, our environment and humankind.
