The Fight To Save Precious Manyana Bushland

Following the events of summer, the small South Coast town of Manyana had only one patch of bushland that wasn’t destroyed by fire. This area had been marked for development and is now set to be cleared for housing. The pristine bushland is home to an abundance of animals, and may serve as the only refuge and relocation point for a number of threatened species, so the fight is on to save it. Manyana matters is the community organisation set up to help protect this land. It has been successful so far in delaying the development… but the fight isn’t over. Thursday Daily presenter Willy Russo spoke with Manyana Matters campaign manager Peter Winkler to find out more.

If you wish to help with the fight you we urge you to write a submission opposing the development and calling on the Federal Minister For the Environment to declare the development a ‘Controlled Action’. Please help by emailing epbc.comments@environment.gov.au with the reference in the subject line: 2020/8704 Manyana Coast Pty Ltd. The deadline is July 8th.
