The impact of funding cuts on Australian Science and Technology Research

 

Science & Technology Australia, the national peak body of over 70,000 scientists and technologists has warned that the 2019/2020 Budget released yesterday, has missed the opportunity to invest in solution-making scientific and technological research.

With cuts to CSIRO and the Research Support Program, in addition to a failure to keep pace with inflation for most national research agencies,  Australian universities’ ability to conduct world-leading research and drive innovation will be severely impacted.

The Daily’s Julia Carr-Catzel spoke with CEO of Science & Technology Australia, Kylie Walker, about what the budget cuts to science and technology research means for the future of all Australians.
