The Importance of Language, Stories and Culture within Remote Communities

On the first of September this year, the Indigenous Literacy Foundation celebrated their annual Indigenous Literacy Day, which is a celebration of languages, stories and culture.

Cindy Manfong, the ILF’s Publishing Coordinator,  spoke with Tina Quin about the importance of literacy within remote indigenous communities as well as the response to the most recent day.

For more information, ild.org.au is a fantastic learning resource for schools and organisations to learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages and culture. This resource is available for the next 12 months.
