The Nicole Fitzsimons Foundation and Safe Travel

In October 2012 Nicole Fitzsimons, a young Australian woman was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in Thailand. Shockingly, her story is one Australians keep hearing at an alarming rate with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade claiming over 1,000 Australians die overseas every year from illness or accident.

These statistics shocked the Fitzsimons family and as a result of their loss they decided enough was enough and created The Nicole Fitzsimons Foundation. The foundation has 2 main goals

  1. to educate young Australians on travel safety
  2. to assist talented and dedicated young performing artists and sportspeople who need financial assistance to aspire to their dreams

Kate Fitzsimons, director of the foundation, created a travel safety presentation for high school seniors and since 2013 has educated over 30,000 students Australia-wide on travel safety and the importance of purchasing travel insurance before embarking on any holiday.

As well as educating young Australians, the foundation offers financial assistance to performers and sportspeople aged 16-25, who have passion and drive through foundation grants.

Further information can be found on the Travel Safety Campaign, Foundation Grants and contributing to the foundation through donations at The Nicole Fitzsimons Foundation website.
