The Oscar nominations are out again but this time it seems the best picture nominations are focusing more commercial appeal and films which focus on representation with the likes of  Black Panther, Blackkklansman, Bohemian Rhapsody and even Netflix’s Roma all getting best picture nominations. Coming off decades of more obscure and Oscar-centre film fair, what has prompted this change and is this a sign of what is to come in future years?
