The Opposition

For a country that is only a few hundred kilometres from our own, the state of Papua New Guinea gets limited coverage in our press, this despite some big corruption allegations which have produced protests that have turned violent and recently led to Port Morseby University being temporarily closed.  

In 2012 a young student film-maker arrived to film this political conflict and stumbled upon another dramatic national chapter as she witnessed armed police authorise the demolition of the shanty settlement of Paga Hill to make way for a five-star marina and accommodation complex.
